Universal 4th Theme Park

Universal's Fourth Gate: Fantastic Worlds

Universal has announced they are in the process of a building another theme park in the Orlando area in Florida. Rumors have it stating that the park will be called Fantastic Worlds. The new theme park is suppose to feature: Fantastic Beasts, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and many more. The park is also expected to add a Nintendo area to the park as well. Originally Super Nintendo Land was planned to replace the most underrated area Woody Woodpecker's KidZone. KidZone opened in 1999 including a few attractions:

  1. Fievel's Playland (Opened in 1992)
  2. A Day in the Park With Barney (Opened in 1995)
  3. Curious George (Opened in 1998)
  4. Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster (Opened in 1999).
  5. E.T. (Opened in 1990)

It's been twenty years since KidZone remained at Universal Studios Florida. While Universal sought to fit Nintendo Land into the area, the plan was scrapped and was decided to be put into the 4th gate. There have been rumors saying that Pokemon might take the place of KidZone, but that has not been confirmed yet. This is exciting news, but the question people have asked is: "Where is this theme park going to be put at?"

Good question. Universal recently bought another acre of land to start construction for this upcoming theme park attraction. Aside from that, Universal is expecting two new on-site resort hotels. Universal's Endless Summer Resort will open in summer 2019 and with two new hotels: SurfSide Inn and Suites which will open this summer, and Dockside Inn which will open next year in 2020.

With all these new attractions coming to the park, there is one problem Universal has been facing. How are they going to surpass their rival theme park? Disney is in the midst of completing Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge which will open this fall and is expecting to open more attractions for the 50th Anniversary in 2021.Image result for galaxy's edge concept art

Nine years ago, Universal outperformed Disney with the opening of Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Now with Galaxy's Edge on the way, Disney hopes to change all that to stay on top of their game. Universal announced that a new Harry Potter coaster will open at Islands of Adventure sometime soon. No opening date has been confirmed, but it is expected to open in the summer.

This new theme park is expected to open sometime in 2022 or 2023. No opening date has been confirmed quite yet. It looks like we'll have to wait another three or four years for the Fantastic Worlds to be open. Universal is coming up with a strong strategy to top Walt Disney World during the 50th Anniversary. Nintendo World will first open at Universal Studios Japan before it makes its way to California and Florida. The land is expected to open in 2020 during the Tokyo Olympics.

So it's time that I leave you guys with these questions: What do you expect to see at Universal's new theme park and why? Do you think Universal has the guts to be able to surpass Disney when the new park opens a few years from now? What attraction do you think should take KidZone's place?
